A man has been left seriously injured after being assaulted by a gang in an unprovoked attack.

The assault happened near on Spindlehowe Road in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, at 10.30pm on Friday, March 4.

The 22-year-old was chased up Main Street by the group, all believed to be men in their early 20s, before being attacked.

He managed to escape the assault and ran back towards Main Street, where he stopped a passing car and called an ambulance.

The man was then taken to Monklands Hospital and treated for a head injury.

Detective constable Leane Holmes from Cambuslang CID said: “This appears to have been a violent and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant injury.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed what happened, or saw a group of men acting suspiciously, to get in touch.
