A woman has been arrested for allegedly attacking an 88-year-old man.

The pensioner was found with serious injuries in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on Tuesday afternoon after police were called to the scene.

An ambulance crew attended Cowal View in the town's Duncan Street at around 12.30pm and took the elderly man to hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested and detained a 40-year-old woman in connection with the incident. She is expected to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 40-year-old woman has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with an incident in Cowal View, Duncan Street, Clydebank, around 12.30pm on Tuesday, in which an 88-year-old man sustained serious injuries.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
