A man has been stabbed in the face during a gang attack in Glasgow city centre.

The 21-year-old victim was walking through Dover Street in Finnieston at about 9.15pm on Saturday when he was approached and attacked by three men. One of them stabbed him in the face with a sharp object.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries before being released. The three men ran off towards Argyle Street after the incident.

The first suspect is described as an Asian male, in his mid 20s, 5ft 6in, with short dark hair with stubble, slim build and wearing a baseball jersey which was grey on the torso with black sleeves and buttons down the middle.

The second suspect is described as an Asian male in his mid 20s, 6ft, with short black hair, clean shaven and wearing a red jumper or jacket.

The third man is also described as Asian, in his mid 20s, 5ft 10in, with receding short black hair and wearing a cream long-sleeved T-shirt.

Detective constable Graham Morrison, of Glasgow West End Police Office, said: "This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack which has resulted in a young man sustaining serious facial injuries.

"We are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and viewing CCTV in an attempt to identify the men responsible for this vicious attack.

"In the meantime I urge anyone who either witnessed the incident or anyone who remembers seeing the three Asian men hanging around the area either prior to 9.15pm on Saturday or running off afterwards to contact police immediately. It is believed that they may have got into a car that was parked nearby."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via telephone number 101.
