A teenager was slashed in the neck during a brawl outside a city bar.

The 17-year-old man was knifed during the disturbance on Duke Street in the east end of Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.

He was involved in a fight with another young man outside the G101 store and the Alexandra Bar, near the junction with Whitevale Street.

The teenage victim suffered a serious neck injury and was initially taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 16 and 20 years with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark blue or black tracksuit and dark trainers. The 17-year-old victim was wearing a baseball cap and dark jacket.

Detective constable Jennifer Carey said: "Duke Street is an extremely busy street and on the day of the incident more people would have been in the area as Celtic was playing at home

"From our inquiries, we know that the attack was witnessed by several people and there were a number of cars queuing at the junction of Duke Street at Millerston Street at the lights.

"I am appealing to these people to contact us, I'm sure they have information which could assist our investigation."
