A gunman wearing a boiler suit threatened shop staff with a gun before fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

The hooded man walked into Hussains General Store on Wellshot Road in the east end of Glasgow at around 6.15am on Monday when he threatened workers and demanded money.

He then fled the store with a three-figure sum of cash, plus the cigarettes.

The suspect is white and had his face covered with either a Burberry or Aquascutum scarf. He is around 5ft 6in with a slim build. He was wearing a dark boiler suit with a cream hooded-top underneath.

The raider was also wearing a baseball cap, black shoes and was carrying a dark holdall bag over his shoulder. He fled the store on to Ardgay Street and got into a silver Vauxhall Astra.

Detective sergeant Raymond Hunter said: "We are reviewing available CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact us, did you perhaps notice the man prior to the incident or did you see the suspect leave the shop and get into the silver car.

"If you have any information of knowledge about this crime or the suspect then please do get in touch.” Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Pollok Police Office on the 101 number.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where information can be given anonymously."
