Woman dies after collision between car and coal lorry on the A73
The 45-year-old driver was found dead at the scene while a teenage passenger was taken to hospital.
A woman has died after a collision between a car and coal on a South Lanarkshire road.
The 45-year-old driver died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 7.40am on the A73 near the junction with Station Road in Thankerton.
An 18-year-old passenger was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance. She was released later following treatment for "minor injuries".
The 56-year-old driver of the lorry was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Sergeant David Stenhouse at the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Motherwell is appealing for witnesses to the crash.
