A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 21-year-old at a flat in Glasgow.

Nico Donnelly, of Cambuslang, is accused of stabbing 21-year-old Jamie Johnstone and killing him on Saturday, January 16.

Mr Johnstone was found dying outside a flat in Balbeggie Street, Sandyhills, after a disturbance. He later died in hospital.

Prosecutors allege Donnelly did "repeatedly strike him on the body with a knife or similar instrument".

Donnelly made no plea or declaration during a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday and was remanded in custody ahead of another appearance next week.

Sandyhills Golf Course was searched earlier on Monday as part of the investigation. STV News understands they were looking for the weapon allegedly used.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The search is related to the ongoing murder investigation."
