Detectives probing a hit-and-run crash which killed a woman two days before Christmas have issued a fresh appeal.

Angela McGregor, 48, was struck by a Volkswagen Golf as she crossed the road in Paisley, Renfrewshire on December 23.

The car ploughed into her in the town's Love Street near to its junction with Wallace Street at around 7.55pm.

She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where she later died on Christmas Day.

The vehicle did not stop at the time of the crash, however the driver and the vehicle were later traced. No one has been arrested or charged in connection with the incident as yet.

Further enquiries have revealed that a small white coloured car, possibly a Seat Ibiza or Leon, was in the vicinity of Love Street around the time of the incident. Police are appealing for the driver to contact them.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of the Divisional Road Policing Unit, said: "The driver and occupants of the white vehicle seen near to the scene of the collision may hold important information that will assist us with our enquiries and it is important that we speak to them.

"I would urge the people in that white car, and anyone else who may have information about what happened, to contact police on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
