A haul of 305,000 diazepam tablets has been seized by police during a drug raid at a house.

Officers acting under warrant searched a property on Reid Street in Coatbridge on Tuesday morning as part of an intelligence-led operation.

The raid led officers to a house on Avalon Place in Airdrie on Wednesday, where they found the tablets with an estimated street value of £305,000.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested over alleged drugs offences following the recovery. He is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Thursday. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Detective inspector Kevin Jamieson, of Lanarkshire division CID, said: "We will continue to act on any information received to ensure that drug dealing has no home in our communities.

"This is a significant recovery of diazepam which has reduced the potential harm which could have been caused by these drugs, both in Lanarkshire and beyond."
