A champion Lakeland Terrier was among four dogs stolen from a back garden, police have said.

A group of three Lakeland Terriers and one lurcher, worth up to £600 each, were stolen from a back garden in Kiklandneuk Road, Renfrew on Sunday, January 3.

Police Scotland said the owner was left "extremely upset" by the theft.

A silver van was seen in the area around the time of the incident and officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

The champion dog is described as a six-year-old Lakeland Terrier with scarring on his nose.

The second dog is a five-month-old Lakeland Terrier with a distinctive black stripe running from his eyes to his nose.

The third is an 18-month-old Lakeland terrier while the fourth is a four-year-old lurcher which has recently received medical treatment for her injured left hind leg.

As well as the champion, the owner had started showing the three other dogs and was using them for hunting.

Each animal is valued at between £400 and £600 and the owner is keen to see them returned safe and well. The dogs were taken between 6pm and 10.45pm.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
