CCTV of a hooded man breaking into a Scots Muslim centre and setting it on fire after the Paris terror attacks has been released by police.

The blaze happened at the Bishopbriggs Cultural Centre, which was registered as a Mosque and known as Al Sarouk, at around 2.20am on Tuesday, November 17.

Emergency crews attended the fire in the East Dunbartonshire town's Auchinairn Road and found the building severely damaged. The fire came days after 129 people were killed in terror attacks in Paris.

Detectives have now released CCTV footage of a man entering the building, dousing the ground in liquid and torching it.

Thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused, and following a joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the fire is being treated as wilful.

The man in the footage is described as around 5ft 10in tall and wearing a blue tracksuit, a hat with a reflective band at the back, and dark shoes.

Detective constable Stephen Cooke, from Kirkintilloch CID, said: "This was a deliberate and dangerous act which has caused extensive damage to the centre.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images to contact police as he may hold information vital to our inquiry. Anyone with information about this incident can call police on 101."
