A cyclist was taken to hospital after a car crashed into him in a hit-and-run.

The 29-year-old man was taken by ambulance to hospital after the collision near a farm in Ayrshire on Monday afternoon.

The cyclist was on the B769 Irvine to Stewarton Road when he was was struck by a car near to West Labroughton Farm. He was hit by what is believed to be a red Ford Focus. The car failed to stop and continued on the B769 towards Stewarton.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to Crosshouse hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. He has since been released.

Officers believe the car in question could have damage to its wing mirror or bonnet and are appealing for any information or witnesses.
