A man and woman have been arrested after police discovered a cannabis cultivation worth £100,000 during a drug raid.

Officers acting under warrant entered a property in Lanark at around 11.25am on Monday when they made the recovery.

Around 100 plants, believed to be cannabis, were seized by officers from the property in Finlayson Lane, Carnwath.

A 49-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman have been arrested and are detained in police custody in connection with the seizure.

Inspector Scott Jones said: "This significant seizure highlights our commitment to cracking down on cannabis cultivation sites and arresting those involved in this type of activity.

"Yesterday's operation was intelligence-led with members of the public providing police with valuable information, resulting in officers taking action.

"This action demonstrates our determination and commitment in tackling the serious issue of drugs. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
