Police called after G4S prisoner transport van crashes into bridge
G4S van carrying one prisoner was involved in a collision with a bridge in West Dunbartonshire.
A police helicopter was called in after a prisoner transport van crashed into a rail bridge.
The G4S van, carrying one prisoner, was involved in a collision with a bridge in the village of Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, at around 4pm on Tuesday.
The driver of the van was on Dumbarton Road when he turned onto Manse Road and crashed. A second G4S van was called in to transport the prisoner.
Police were called in to assist moving the prisoner, with a helicopter also sent out, and the area was cleared at around 6.30pm.
A statement from G4S said: "A minor incident took place near Bowling in West Dunbartonshire, where a prisoner transport vehicle made brief contact with a low bridge.
"The prisoner remained secure at all times, and was transferred to a replacement vehicle in police presence."
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to assist after a G4S van collided with a bridge in Manse Road in Bowling.
"Officers attended the scene and the situation has been resolved."
