Storm Austen, our first named storm of the current storm season, will arrive from the southwest of the United Kingdom on Thursday night.
It brings strong winds to parts of England, Wales and Ireland but the main impact for Scotland will be the heavy rain it brings.
At around 2am on Friday morning, we will start to see cloud pushing in through the Borders and southern parts of the central belt.
STV NewsThis is followed closely by a large band of rain that will be persistent in places with some heavier downpours, along with some stronger winds.
Widely we could see 20-40mm with some areas seeing 60-80mm. The worst affected areas will be parts of the south west of Scotland stretching up through Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Angus towards Aberdeenshire.
Storm Austen starts to clear and push away overnight Friday into Saturday with the winds dying out and some drier and clearer spells developing.
STV NewsThen, early on Saturday morning, Storm Boelo arrives, pushing into western Scotland and persisting throughout the entire weekend.
It looks set to bring heavy bursts of rain, particularly over higher ground, with further heavy showers and rain constantly wrapping around the centre of the storm and moving west to east across the country.
The winds associated with Storm Boelo are the most concerning part.
STV NewsWe currently have a yellow weather warning covering the whole of Scotland from 6pm Saturday until 9pm Sunday where widely we could see gusts of 55-60mph and some higher ground areas and coastal parts seeing gusts of 80mph.
Storm Boelo will finally move away overnight Sunday into Monday when we start to see the winds easing and dying out.
