News feeds across social media are filling with shocker snow headlines, but you’ll need to wait a while yet for any sign of snow…

However, for those of you yearning for crisp, cold autumn days, I’ve got some promising news as we head into the heart of the season.

Autumn can be a tricky time for weather forecasting, as Atlantic storms – tropical storms and hurricanes – often cause a lot of chaos in our computer models. But we’re approaching the time of year when things should start to calm down a bit, making longer-term predicted trends a bit more reliable.

Current computer models suggest that high pressure will begin to build to the north later next week, bringing more settled conditions with light winds, chilly, frosty nights, and an increased chance of fog.
