A ten-year-old girl climbed Ben Nevis with her dad and grandad to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research.
Lucy Preston decided to take on this difficult challenge after her 73-year-old grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Lucy told STV News: “I’m very close with my grandad, we lived with him for nearly a year.
“Grandad was my first proper word.
“He is the reason my dad and I like hiking so much.”
Lucy hoped to raise £1 for every metre of Ben Nevis – 1345 metres, however she has been able to raise over £3000 so far.
Lucy’s family have helped her set up a Go Fund Me page where people can donate money that will go towards research for medicine and a cure for Alzheimer’s.
“On the morning of the climb I felt nervous, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it, but I was also excited to be there!
“Reaching the top left me speechless, I was so happy and proud.”
Lucy and her family told STV News they are so humbled by people’s support and are so happy to have nearly doubled their target.
