Ryan Christie’s tears ‘were from the heart’ says dad

Scotland goalscorer wept on live TV after helping his nation reach Euro 2020.

Scotland goal hero Ryan Christie’s tears on live television came “from the heart”, his dad has said.

Christie put the Scots ahead in Serbia before the side eventually emerged on penalties to reach Euro 2020.

The Celtic star wept in his post-match interview and dad – Inverness Caledonian Thistle legend Charlie Christie – told STV the tears were flowing at home too.

He said: “It was incredible. It will live with us forever. The tears were great. It’s not often you see that emotion from Ryan. You can see it was from the heart.

“My wife and daughter were also crying. I had a lump in my throat.”
