Lighthouse turns blue to honour key workers in Covid-19 fight

Every Thursday a young piper plays in front of the tourist spot in Boddam to honour the Covid-19 heroes.

The Buchan Ness Lighthouse in Boddam has been lit up blue every Thursday to honour all key workers combatting coronavirus.

In addition, a local bagpiper, who has been playing around the village, stops to play in front of the tourist spot while the nation joins together to applaud frontline staff at 8pm.

Josh Davidson, who plays for for Grade 2 Portlethan Pipe Band, used to play in local care homes, however, the new lockdown measures meant he had to stop performing for the elderly.

He now plays around the streets of Boddam in Aberdeenshire every week to send his message of support to the Covid-19 ‘heroes’.
