Eight-year-old girl recites heartfelt lockdown poem

Maria Hey describes the highs and lows she has felt under the current coronavirus restrictions.

A mum has filmed her eight-year-old daughter as she recites a heartfelt poem about her experience in lockdown.

Leeon Hey said her daughter Maria “loves reading and literacy and enjoys creating rhyming patterns”.

Whilst living under the coronavirus restrictions, she said: “Maria has been writing down all the things she likes about lockdown and the things that made her feel sad.”

The schoolgirl, who would love to be a poet or author when she grows up, has also been taking part in helping the nursery teacher deliver online stories to early years of St Bridget’s Pimary in Kilbirnie.
