Axed pilots facing financial fight over bust airline Flybe

Pilots battling for money they thought they'd get through UK Government's furloughing scheme.

Pilots who worked for collapsed airline Flybe are facing a battle to pocket money they thought they were entitled to.

The airline was one of the earliest major businesses to suffer from coronavirus, having already faced financial issues before the crisis.

We spoke to former Flybe first officer Darren Agnew, who thought he’d be eligible for money through the UK Government’s job retention scheme.

However, as his job won’t exist when the crisis ends, Flybe pilots have been told they won’t get the cash.

Pilots’ union Balpa is now lobbying the government on their behalf.
