Yousaf and Sturgeon WhatsApps under spotlight at Covid Inquiry

Humza Yousaf apologised and launched an inquiry into how informal messaging is handled in government

They were far from being friends or political allies, but the rift between Scotland’s First Minister and the UK Prime Minister during the pandemic was laid bare at the Covid Inquiry today.

In a series of expletive WhatsApp messages between Nicola Sturgeon and her Chief of Staff, Liz Lloyd, the then First Minister called Boris Johnson a clown.

This afternoon, the current First Minister was accused of breaking the bond of trust with the public– over deleted WhatsApp messages.
