Yousaf and Forbes launch bids to be next SNP leader

Nominations for the top job, and the role of First Minister, close on Friday

Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes have launched their bids to become SNP leader and First Minister of Scotland.

The Health Secretary claims Scotland is closer than ever to independence, but he is distancing himself from making the next General Election a de-facto referendum.

The Finance Secretary says she would be a competent leader, focused on independence and economic growth.

And she says she would not challenge the UK Government’s decision to block the Gender Recognition Reform Bill in court.
