Workers ‘intimidated’ when removing flags, says council

In the last few weeks, the sight of flags flying from lampposts in our towns and cities has become increasingly common.

The saltires and union flags have appeared in the wake of protests at hotels housing asylum seekers.

Some councils – like Falkirk – say workers have been subjected to intimidation while trying to take them down – but today the leader of Glasgow City Council says it won’t be making a special effort to remove them.
