Woman with cerebral palsy placed in care facility 100 miles from home

Iona Grant, who has cerebral Palsy, has been left in the care home for the last six months and 'just wants to go home'

A young woman from the Highlands living in a care facility 100 miles from her home in Lochaber for the past six months has launched a petition, urging health bosses to help her return home.

Iona Grant, 30, who has cerebral palsy, spent the last six months in the care home after her at-home care package collapsed when she went into hospital for a minor operation.

Iona was forced to celebrate her milestone 30th birthday in the Nairn home and also suffered the loss of her beloved dog Diesel while she was away, and says the current situation is stripping her of her dignity and her independence.

Desperate to go back to the way things were, she’s started a petition to appeal to NHS Highland to help her get back home again and regain her quality of life.
