A woman who waited three years for a hip operation has told the Health Secretary the NHS let her down. Humza Yousaf came face-to-face with the patient while he was announcing the health service has bought a private hospital in Ayr which will become part of a network of national treatment centres.
Ayrshire and Arran Health Board has spent nearly £2m on the site, but more will be required as the building is turned into a specialist orthopaedic facility. The health service is – of course – facing pressure like never before.
