Woman campaigning for greater awareness of life-changing womb condition

Britt Gibson first began experiencing severe pelvic pain and heavy periods in her teens.

A women whose periods were so painful they’d cause her to be sick for most of her adult life has told STV News the hardest part of her condition is not being believed by family, friends and doctors.

Britt Gibson found out she had Adenomyosis five years ago when a surgeon told her, that despite never giving birth, the condition had caused her uterus to swell to the size of someone who’d had three or four children. Researchers are urgently calling for more effective treatments into the common, but under researched condition.
