‘We’ve been abandoned by the council’, say evacuated residents

They were forced to leave their homes after a fire-damaged building collapsed.

Residents in Glasgow’s southside, who face at least half a year out of their homes after a building next to their flats collapsed, have told STV News they’ve been abandoned by the council.

Homeowners of tenement flats on Albert Drive and Kenmure Street, which were damaged in a fire five years ago, had been on the brink of a deal with a housing association to take over the demolition of the ruins.

Now, the £500,000 clean-up bill lies with them.
