West Highland Way needs ‘urgent support’ amid climate change pressures

A newly established charity says support is needed to ensure the route remains open for generations to come.

It has been 45 years since the 96-mile West Highland Way officially opened.

Thousands of hikers have completed the route from Milngavie to Fort William this year alone.

But a newly established charity which manages the trail says support is urgently needed to ensure the route remains open for future generations.

It says parts of the route are under increasing pressures due to climate change.
