Patients in rural and island communities will soon be able to benefit from welfare advice services in GP practices.
From autumn, practices in 20 rural and 10 island communities will be able to provide an in-house welfare rights officer.
They will add to the work already being done at around 150 practices in some of the country’s most deprived areas. Doctors say it will free up more time for dealing with patients.
