There are warnings a “catastrophic” winter lies ahead unless urgent action is taken to help those worst affected by the soaring cost of gas and electricity bills. The boss of one of Scotland’s major energy companies fears that further price hikes will plunge those already struggling even further into the depths of fuel poverty.
The chief executive of Scottish Power says bills for every single household should be cut by £1000. And he says this should happen before the price cap rises again in October. Some people are already having to make drastic decisions.
