Warning global conflicts have increased risk of attacks on North sea energy

Experts warn conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have exposed vulnerabilities to UK energy infrastructure

As global tensions from the war in Iran and Ukraine continue to disrupt energy markets, industry and defence experts gathered in Aberdeen on Wednesday to look at ways of tightening up protection against possible attacks.

Amid the growing threat of both physical and cyberattacks on energy infrastructure, operators, security specialists, and government partners are looking to combat the risks facing the North Sea using technology such as AI.

In Scotland, renewables, as well as oil and gas infrastructure, are constantly under threat of being targeted, and experts warn those operating in the North Sea must be prepared.
