Villages cut off after three landslides sever road links

Scotland has experienced heavy rain across the country

It was a weekend that brought extreme rain and landslides across Argyll but one community has been hit harder than ever before.

Villages on the Craignish Peninsula are facing the prospect of weeks of disruption after three landslides cut off their only road to the closest town of Lochgilphead.

Elsewhere, the A83 at Rest and be Thankful also remains closed, and with a yellow weather warning still in place until 9.00pm , work to clear thousands of tonnes of debris has been disrupted.
