Village residents campaign against quarry expansion

The site extracts aggregate used in road and rail construction and for garden gravel.

Residents of the Fife village of Balmullo have formed a campaign group to fight plans to extend a quarry they’d thought would close in the next couple of years.

Proposals would see extraction spread to other parts of Lucklawhill, extending the life of the quarry by at least 20 years and raising fears about one of Fife’s most scenic spots.
