UWS victim of cyberattack and extortion by hackers

The group is demanding a substantial payment for the return of confidential information

One of Scotland’s biggest universities is the subject of an online extortion attempt after sensitive data was stolen by hackers.

It was taken during a cyber attack on the University of the West of Scotland, which has campuses in Blantyre, Paisley and Ayr.
