Ukrainian sailors are being trained in Scotland as part of the UK’s efforts to help in the war against Russia.
They’re on board two minehunter vessels which the UK is handing over next year. The deal was struck before the invasion and now these ships will play a vital role in detecting and destroying mines in the Black Sea. This specialist training comes as a crucial deal has been signed to end a blockade of Ukrainian ports, potentially averting the threat of a global food crisis. Here’s our Chief Reporter, Sharon Frew.
