The UK Government has been criticised for continuing to support the development of new oil fields.
The Committee on Climate Change report warned that support – along with the failure to meet targets – means the UK is losing its position as a world leader on climate change.
But the oil industry’s warned that whilst it supports the committee’s targets, the proposals in the report would put the UK at an increased risk of a new energy crisis.
