UK first offshore wind testing centre opens in Aberdeen

The centre will initially test offshore cables and systems designed to transfer crew safely

The UK’s first centre dedicated to testing equipment for the floating offshore wind sector has opened in Aberdeen.

The £9 million complex was opened by the First Minister, Humza Yousaf, and will test equipment to withstand the harsh North Sea climate.

Industry experts say the facility will help Scotland meet its offshore wind targets and cement Aberdeen’s place in the renewable energy sector.
