UK 'could become more reliant on oil and gas imports'

Energy costs are set to increase in the coming days.

With energy costs set to increase in the coming days, it’s being claimed that the country will become more reliant on imports of oil and gas in the coming years and that could fuel further rises.

The oil industry body says unless more investment is made in the North Sea, there could be future price hikes like those seen after Russia’s decision to invade Ukraine. However, environmental groups say the sector is simply attempting to take advantage of increasing prices. Steven Brown reports.
