An inquiry has heard two men who died after being stuck in a burning hotel had tried to smash open a window to escape the inferno.
The fatal accident inquiry also heard how a man on his honeymoon with his wife and young son, smashed a window with a chair in an attempt to reach safety and used bedding to try and stop thick smoke from filling their room.
