Conservative MPs have picked the two candidates who’ll stand against each other to become the next Prime Minister.
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss made it through after Penny Mordaunt was knocked out of the race. The announcement came after Boris Johnson received a standing ovation from his MPs as he finished his last Prime Minister’s Questions. But opposition leaders rounded on his record – with the SNP claiming his leadership had driven support for Scottish independence to “new heights.”
