Tributes have been paid today at a service of thanksgiving for the former Labour Chancellor Alistair Darling, who died last month at the age of 70.
St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in the capital was packed as the congregation heard about the life of a serious and wise man of great integrity.
Former Prime Ministers Sir Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were among those who attended, as Mr Darling’s family life became the defining theme of the service.
