Travel has been disrupted across many parts of the North and the Highlands and Islands today, with winds gusting up to 80mph across Orkney and Shetland.
Storm Pia is due to subside later this evening, but wintry weather is still forecast for some parts over the next few days, with people travelling home for Christmas being urged to plan ahead as much as possible.
