Tourist tax could see visitors paying 5% levy on accommodation

If it does go ahead the tax could be in place by summer 2026.

Hotels and other accommodation providers in Edinburgh will be asked to charge visitors an extra 5% to generate more cash for the city if new plans go ahead.

Those behind the proposed tourist tax say it will help provide more investment to support the impact of millions of people coming to the capital.
