Tourism at risk due to rising costs warn industry leaders

At Holyrood committee the idea of a levy on overnight visitors has been discussed

It’s Scotland’s biggest industry – bringing in more than three million visitors each year and generating £4 billion for the economy.

But leaders in the tourism sector are warning it’s becoming less sustainable as a business because of rising costs.

And with local authorities keen to benefit from the income the prospect of a tourist tax has again been discussed at Holyrood.
