Three hospitalised after gas explosion in Strathaven

The explosion happened in a butcher's on Green Street but quickly spread to two flats above the shop

Three people were hospitalised after a gas explosion in the Lanarkshire town of Strathaven.

Residents described flames engulfing the building which took fire crews several hours to bring under control.

Police and fire crews remain at the scene.
