Teachers walk out across Scotland over pay dispute

It's the first teacher strike in nearly four decades with more dates planned for next year

Schools across the country have been shut as thousands of teachers walked out and joined picket lines in their row over pay with councils and the Scottish Government.

EIS union members say they want a ten per cent rise, but those on the other side say that figure is unaffordable.
