Surge in number of people referred to anti-radicalisation programme

162 individuals were referred to the PREVENT programme in the last year.

Concerns around the rise of right wing extremism in Scotland have been laid bare by new figures which show a surge in the number of people being referred for anti-radicalisation help.

162 individuals were referred to the PREVENT programme in the last year – 90% of them were young men, with 40% aged 15-20.

The data also shows that more than a third of all concerns raised related to far right extremist views.
