Stroke survivors ‘failed’ as care standards missed for seventh year

The health secretary says his government is investing £50m to expand stroke care.

Stroke survivors are being “failed” by the Scottish Government, with care standards missed for the seventh year in the row.

That’s the damning verdict from charities and opposition MSPs, who’ve branded the findings as “abysmal”.

Public Health Scotland found only around 2% of stroke patients received a life-saving clot-removal procedure treatment – and the situation is worse than before the pandemic.
