Street cleaners in Edinburgh to walk out for 11 days

The industrial action will begin tomorrow in a dispute over pay

Unions are warning that “waste will pile up at the Edinburgh Festival’ as refuse workers and street cleaners walk out from tomorrow for eleven days. COSLA offered a 3.5% increase but it was rejected.

The First Minister says councils should make a “decent” 5% pay offer, as the Scottish Government recently committed £140m to help with a pay rise.
